  • 3 large Eggs Bring them to room temperature.
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder Sift to eliminate clumps.
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry Jam Feel free to adjust color with food coloring.
  • Food Coloring Optional, but enhances visual appeal.
For the Frosting
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar Sift for smoother consistency.
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Allow to soften before mixing.
  • 1-2 tbsp Milk Add gradually to reach desired texture.
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract Pure extract recommended for best taste.

Equipment

  • 13x9-inch baking pan
  • electric mixer
  • Mixing bowl
  • knife or skewer

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 13x9-inch baking pan by lightly greasing it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the white cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and combined.
  3. Divide the batter into three equal portions; keep one plain for vanilla, whisk in cocoa powder for chocolate, and blend in strawberry jam and food coloring for the strawberry layer.
  4. Pour the vanilla batter into the prepared baking pan, followed by spoonfuls of chocolate and strawberry batter.
  5. Gently swirl through the batters to create a marbled effect.
  6. Bake for 28-30 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  7. Remove the cake from the oven, let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the frosting by mixing softened butter and powdered sugar, adding milk and vanilla until creamy.
  9. Set aside some frosting for chocolate and strawberry variations and frost the cooled cake, swirling the colors.
