Step-by-Step Instructions for Sweet Potato & Cranberry Gratin
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into even rounds about 1/4 inch thick. Boil in a large pot for 10-15 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the boiled sweet potato slices.
  4. Sprinkle half of the fresh cranberries evenly over the first layer of sweet potatoes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour half of this mixture over the layered sweet potatoes and cranberries.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining sweet potatoes and cranberries, pour the remaining cream mixture on top.
  7. Sprinkle shredded Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Let the gratin cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
