Step-by-Step Instructions for Sweet Potato & Cranberry Gratin
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into even rounds about 1/4 inch thick. Boil in a large pot for 10-15 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the boiled sweet potato slices.
- Sprinkle half of the fresh cranberries evenly over the first layer of sweet potatoes.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour half of this mixture over the layered sweet potatoes and cranberries.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining sweet potatoes and cranberries, pour the remaining cream mixture on top.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let the gratin cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
