Dough
  • 1 package Puff Pastry store-bought or homemade
Sweet Coating
  • 2 tbsp Cinnamon use fresh for best taste
  • 1/2 cup Sugar brown sugar optional
Frying
  • 2 cups Neutral Oil (canola or vegetable)
Optional Fillings
  • 1 cup Chocolate/Jam/Sweet Cream Cheese customize to preference

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out your puff pastry until about 1/4 inch thick and cut into squares.
  2. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each pastry square and fold the corners inward, sealing securely.
  3. Roll each filled pastry square into a tightly packed cylinder, bend into a U-shape, and place upright in a greased muffin tin.
  4. Heat neutral oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C), checking the temperature closely.
  5. Fry each cruffin halfway in the hot oil for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove cruffins and toss immediately in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar for coating.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy, optionally with vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit.
