Ingredients

For the Fudge
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk Provides sweetness and creamy texture; substitute with evaporated milk for a less sweet option.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Adds rich chocolate flavor; use unsweetened cocoa for a more intense taste.
  • 1/2 cup salted butter Enhances flavor and helps achieve the right texture; unsalted butter can be used with a pinch of salt.
For the Coating
  • 1 cup grated chocolate or chocolate sprinkles Used for rolling the finished mice, adding texture and visual appeal.
For the Mice
  • 12 medium strawberries Fresh fruit for the center, contributing juiciness.
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts Serves as ears; can use sliced almonds, sunflower seeds, or pine nuts based on nut allergies.
  • 1/4 cup colored shaped sprinkles For decorative eyes and nose.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • plate

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by greasing a plate with butter to prevent sticking. In a medium saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk and sifted cocoa powder. Place the pan over medium heat, adding salted butter as you stir continuously. Keep mixing for about 7-8 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  2. Once thickened, transfer your fudge mixture onto the greased plate, spreading it evenly. Allow it to cool at room temperature or refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes to make it pliable.
  3. While the fudge cools, wash and dry your strawberries. Take a small portion of the cooled fudge and shape it around each strawberry to create a mouse-like figure.
  4. Roll each fudge-covered strawberry in grated chocolate or chocolate sprinkles for texture. Use remaining fudge to create small tails and press roasted peanuts for ears.
  5. Place the mice back onto the plate or serving platter and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them set before serving.

Notes

Keep your hands slightly damp while shaping the fudge around the strawberries to avoid stickiness. Refrigerating helps the fudge set properly.
