Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped onion and shredded cheddar cheese, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Gently fold in the frozen shredded hash browns until coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and spread it evenly. Crush cornflakes or crackers and mix with melted butter, then sprinkle over the casserole.
  6. Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Optionally garnish with extra cheese or parsley.
