Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare the Danish Pastry by making the homemade Danish pastry a day in advance, then roll it out into a large rectangle and fold it several times. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the chilled Danish pastry into a rectangle again. Cut it into squares of desired size, arrange on a baking sheet.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, milk, and lemon zest until smooth and creamy.
  4. Rinse and dry fresh strawberries, chop them into small pieces.
  5. In the center of each pastry square, place a teaspoon of strawberry jam followed by a dollop of cream cheese filling and pieces of fresh strawberries.
  6. Fold and twist each pastry square, seal them by pinching. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with demerara sugar. Bake for about 20 minutes.
  7. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving warm.
