Ingredients

For the Meat and Flavor Base
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or substitute with turkey, lentils, or a meat alternative
  • 1 medium Onion diced; use yellow, white, or shallot
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder or use fresh minced garlic
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Pasta and Broth
  • 2 cups Macaroni or gluten-free pasta
  • 4 cups Beef Broth or vegetable broth for vegetarian version
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce or omit for dietary restrictions
For the Creamy Finish
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese or a mix of cheeses for extra flavor

Equipment

  • Large pot

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by heating a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until it’s browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat, careful not to lose the flavorful bits stuck to the pot.
  2. Add diced onions to the pot with the cooked beef. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onions become translucent and fragrant, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the macaroni, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir everything together, increase the heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  4. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The macaroni should be al dente and most of the liquid absorbed.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it has melted and created a creamy sauce around the macaroni.
  6. Dish out the One-Pot Cheeseburger Macaroni while it's still warm. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or green onions if desired.
