  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced, fresh is preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Grated or ground.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Toasted is best for flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground is preferred.
For Assembly
  • 4 buns Brioche Buns Whole wheat buns are a healthier alternative.
  • 1 cup Korean BBQ Sauce Store-bought is an option.
  • 1/2 cup Chili Garlic Mayo Mix mayo and sriracha.
  • 1 cup Kimchi Slaw Regular cabbage can be used as a substitute.

Equipment

  • Cast-iron skillet or grill

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, gently break apart the ground beef and mix with garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, and black pepper. Do not overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, making a slight dent in the center to cook evenly.
  3. Preheat the skillet or grill over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes until hot.
  4. Carefully place the patties on the hot surface and sear for 3-4 minutes on one side before flipping and cooking for another 3-4 minutes.
  5. Once cooked, let the patties rest for 5 minutes and brush with Korean BBQ sauce.
  6. Toast the buns lightly, spread chili garlic mayo, place the patty on top, and add kimchi slaw before closing with the top bun.
