Ingredients

For the Pulled Ham
  • 4-5 pounds Boneless Ham a 4-5 pound size works best
  • 1 cup Apple Juice or Cider natural sweetness; white grape juice is a suitable substitute
  • 1/4 cup Dijon Mustard essential for sharp flavor; spicy brown mustard can be used
  • 1/4 cup Whole Grain Mustard contributes rustic texture; yellow mustard can be used
  • 1/4 cup Honey natural sweetness; maple syrup is an alternative
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar creates a caramelized coating; can replace with coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar brings acidity; white vinegar can replace
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder adds warmth; freshly minced garlic can elevate flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder adds onion flavor; fresh onions can be used
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper simple seasoning that enhances flavor
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream makes the sauce rich; substitute with half-and-half for lighter
  • 1 tablespoon Optional Fresh Parsley adds color and freshness

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Start by placing your 4-5 pound boneless ham into the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together apple juice or cider, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, honey, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Pour the mustard sauce evenly over the ham, ensuring it's thoroughly coated.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours until the ham is tender and easily shred.
  5. Once cooked, remove the ham, let it rest, and then shred using two forks.
  6. Pour the cooking liquid into a saucepan and bring to a simmer; stir in heavy cream until thickened.
  7. Return the shredded ham back to the slow cooker and mix with the thickened creamy sauce.
  8. Serve warm on its own, or on slider rolls, over mashed potatoes, or in tacos.
