Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9X13-inch baking pan.
  2. Mash ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth, aiming for 1 to 1.5 cups.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  4. Cream together the eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy for about 3–5 minutes.
  5. Gently mix in the mashed bananas, buttermilk or sour cream, and vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips gently for even distribution.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the bars cool before transferring to a wire rack or cutting directly in the pan.
